The Good: Built-in Wi-Fi for music downloads and Web access, large screen, a wealth of applications

The Bad: Slightly underpowered external speakers

The Bottom Line: A poor man's iPhone, the touch offers wireless music downloads, mobile Web access, and hundreds of applications while on the go.

http://www.macrumors.com/2008/09/16/ipod-nano-4g-software-1-0-2-released/

Apple has released iPod Nano 4G Software 1.0.2, notably skipping software version 1.0.1.

iLounge notes that some small typographical errors have been fixed but otherwise nothing groundbreaking is included in the release. The software is available via the iPod software update feature of iTunes.

The feature of iTunes 8 that Apple wants to you notice is called "Genius." Basically, it generates playlists, either from your songs or the iTunes Store, based upon a track selected from your library. In this post, we'll look at creating and saving a Genius playlist on your Mac.

First, select the target track in your library. I wanted to generate a playlist for work, so I selected a mellow track ...

Engadget publishes photos of what appears to be a 4GB iPod Nano available at a Dutch retailer for €119. Additional photos have been posted to OneMoreThing.nl.

The model is reportedly a limited run and no further inventory will be available. One report claims that originally 4GB models were planned and that a limited number had already been produced.

Despite looking forward to the iPod touch/iPhone integration of the Nike+ running dongle for over a year now, we can't help but feel slightly disappointed at the way this app is executed on the latest iPod touch. The Nike+ iPod software itself looks great—the red and white UI design matches up perfectly with Nike's own workout site—but there's just something missing. First, where's the grandfathered support for iPhone, ...

http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/apple-ipod-nano-fourth-generation-8gb-16gb/

Pros: Apple’s highest-capacity mid-range flash player to date, with an outstanding array of nine color options that for the first time are available at a $149 base price rather than as a premium option. Preserves most of the features of last year’s flat A-rated version, adding an accelerometer that adds modestly to photo, game, and audio functionality. Includes font size options and optional voice ...
