The United States' 44th President will be a Mac user, as President-Elect Barack Obama and his children have been revealed as having two MacBooks for personal use. Newsweek notes that Michelle Obama, the soon-to-be First Lady, recently purchased the two MacBooks so Barack and his two daughters can video-chat while he is on the road, something likely to be frequent in his new position.

With all of the dangers lurking out there these days, you probably shouldn't let your toddler out of your sight for any length of time. However, should they escape your clutches this electronic wristlet concept could deliver text and graphic symbol messages to the child via a solar-powered display. My thought on this is that if your child is old enough to read the display then he is probably old enough ...

The spawn of the XM Sirius fusion emerges tomorrow, and Orbitcast has picked up the complete channel listing for XM subscribers that goes into effect in less than 24 hours. It's fairly grim for some diehard XM fans—a lot of rock stations have been erased (bye bye punk channel) or are being replaced by Sirius pseudo-equivalents. Hit the jump for the full list, but it might not be pretty. Makes those ...

I wouldn't sacrifice a working SNES for this mod, but if you have a broken one in your closet somewhere, transforming it into a digital alarm clock is an interesting (and inexpensive) way to give it new life. As you can see in the video, the display can be set using the standard controller. Plus the cartridge is still removable, making it possible to expand on the mod and develop alternate displays.

Steve Jobs is leaving Apple. Not tomorrow, but probably very soon. That's why he started to say good bye today, doing something more important than just presenting new MacBooks, MacBook Pros, and an updated MacBook Air. Today's event was a play in which he clearly told everyone that the company is more than himself. Since the very first minute, when he immediately sat down to let Tim Cook talk, he was saying: "Hey, ...

System 8.5 was Apple's first system that would run only on PowerPC hardware, instantly forcing obsolete status on all 68030- and 68040-based machines.

The wow factor of 8.5 centered around the inclusion of Sherlock, a search everywhere application that could find a file by name, by context or by searching one of six internet sites (users could add plug-ins to expand the number of sites). Under the hood improvements ...
