MacBook 'Brick' Codename Speculation

There's been some speculation amongst the mac web about a codename ("Brick") associated with the upcoming MacBook update.

The name originates from 9to5Mac, apparently based on the same Asian sources as the "rainbow" iPod Nanos. The "rainbow" iPod nano rumors were apparently misinterpreted as multi-colored individual iPods, but in retrospect, it seems the term instead related to the colors of the rainbow that the new iPod nano are now available in.

Since then, the site has been told that the new MacBook update will be 'all about the Brick'. The exact meaning of which is left up for debate.

Some are speculating that it is a completely separate device, but based on 9to5's reports it seems clear it has to do specifically with the MacBook which is also rumored to have a glass touchpad.

While this form factor is certainly drool-worthy, what was really interesting was this little box off to the right of the device. Who knows if this image is real - frankly I think it is bogus...but what if Apple included a little "brick" with its next generation laptops that acted kind of like a wireless mini-dock?

Multiple sites are buzzing with news of a new Apple product, code named “The Brick” that could debut as early as October 14th. Speculation first began when 9to5Mac claimed to have an inside source which spoke about a mysterious new project Apple was working on code named “The Brick”. Unfortunately, aside from the name “The Brick”, 9to5 seemed to have little additional information to go on, leading them to speculate that perhaps the source may have been referring to the long-rumored iTablet. Since then, other sites have jumped in to offer their theories on what The Brick might be. Some say it is the new MacBooks or MPBs – some say a new brick-shaped wireless USB hub or Mac Pro mini tower – while others say the word “brick” implies it will be an update to the already somewhat brick-like Mac mini or Apple TV lines.

Sources have indicated Apple's "one more thing", code named 'Brick' rumored to be announced around October 14th along with a MacBook refresh, will actually be a re-design of the Mac Mini super-sized to reveal a Mac Mini Pro of sorts. A wild idea that sounds like a stretch of the imagination from sources that we were unable to confirm as completely reliable.

now this is very interesting, i hope this is a new redisigned mac mini or a mac pro mini

i don't know what it will be, but can't wait to find out!
